  • Hawthorne strainer
  • fine mesh sieve

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz whiskey (bourbon or rye preferred)
  • 4-5 medium fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2 oz cold water
  • ice, for shaking and serving
  • 1 lemon slice, for garnish
  • 1 whole strawberry, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle fresh strawberries until juicy but not pulpy.
  • Add whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and water to the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and seal tightly.
  • Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until well chilled.
  • Double strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice using a Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh sieve.
  • Garnish with a lemon slice and whole strawberry.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients and experiment with different whiskeys or sweeteners like agave or honey. For a sparkling twist, top with club soda. Make it ahead by muddling berries and mixing with syrup and lemon juice before serving.
