Equipment

  • Milk frother (handheld, immersion, or electric)
  • Small bowl or measuring cup
  • Whisk
  • Spoon
  • Glass or mug for serving

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Coffee or cold brew

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the heavy cream, milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and vanilla extract (if using).
  • Whisk Briefly: Use a whisk to gently combine all the ingredients until they are well mixed. Don't over-whisk at this stage; you just want everything to be incorporated. The mixture should be a light orange color and smell wonderfully of pumpkin spice.
  • Froth the Mixture: Use your milk frother to froth the mixture until it becomes light, airy, and doubled in volume. If you're using a handheld frother, start at the bottom of the mixture and slowly move upwards. If you're using an electric frother, follow the manufacturer's instructions. You are looking for the texture to thicken and create a light foam.
  • Check the Consistency: The cold foam is ready when it's thick enough to hold its shape but still pourable. It should resemble a soft cloud. If it's too thin, continue frothing for a few more seconds. If it's too thick, add a tiny splash of milk and gently stir.
  • Assemble Your Drink: Pour your iced coffee or cold brew into a glass filled with ice.
  • Top with Cold Foam: Gently spoon the Pumpkin Cold Foam on top of the coffee, allowing it to cascade down the sides.
  • Garnish (Optional): For an extra touch of elegance, sprinkle a pinch of pumpkin pie spice or a drizzle of maple syrup on top of the foam.
  • Enjoy Immediately: The Pumpkin Cold Foam is best enjoyed right away, as it will eventually start to deflate.

Notes

For best results, use cold ingredients. Over-frothing can result in a stiff texture, so stop when it's doubled in volume. Adjust the sweetness to your preference. For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream and milk with coconut cream and almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk. You can store the pumpkin puree mixture (before frothing) in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Frothed cold foam does not store well and is best enjoyed fresh.
