Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Mixing spoon or spatula
  • Plastic wrap or airtight container
  • Baking sheet (for bacon, if baking)
  • Skillet (for bacon, if pan-frying)
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Crackers, tortilla chips, pretzels, or vegetables for serving

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise and sour cream. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl. Mix well, ensuring the cheese is evenly distributed.
  • Stir in the crumbled cooked bacon to the mixture.
  • Add the sliced green onions and sliced almonds.
  • Add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably longer. This allows the flavors to meld together and the dip to thicken.
  • Before serving, give the dip a good stir. Serve with your favorite crackers, tortilla chips, pretzels, or even fresh vegetables.

Notes

For the best flavor, use full-fat mayonnaise and sharp cheddar cheese. Toast the almonds for a deeper, nuttier flavor by toasting them in a dry skillet over medium heat until lightly golden brown and fragrant. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To make it spicy, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
