Equipment

  • Cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottom pan
  • sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tongs or wooden spoon
  • Paper towels for drying steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (garnish, optional)
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Start with well-trimmed steak. Pat it dry — this helps you get that perfect sear. In a bowl, toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Set your cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it’s hot. You want it to sizzle as soon as the meat touches the pan.
  • Add steak pieces in a single layer (don’t overcrowd!). Let them sear undisturbed for 2 minutes, then flip. Brown all sides — about 4–5 minutes total.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic to the pan. Stir so every bite gets coated in that buttery, garlicky goodness.
  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle with parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve immediately while sizzling hot!

Notes

Garnish with fresh parsley or lemon juice for brightness. Swap sirloin with ribeye for extra richness, or add chili flakes for heat. Perfect over mashed potatoes, salad, or tucked in tacos.
