Equipment

  • Electric Mixer (stand or hand mixer)
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • serving bowl
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Spatula or spoon

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup caramel sauce, divided
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 3-4 medium apples, cored and sliced Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts pecans, walnuts
  • Optional toppings: chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: toffee bits
  • Optional toppings: sea salt
  • Optional toppings: sprinkles
  • Optional: Lemon juice

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy (2-3 minutes on medium speed).
  • Gradually add the packed brown sugar to the cream cheese, beating until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gently fold in half of the caramel sauce (about 1/4 cup) into the cream cheese mixture. Reserve the rest for topping.
  • Gradually add the milk, mixing until the dip reaches your desired consistency. Start with a little less and add more if needed.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up.
  • While the dip is chilling, core and slice the apples. Toss the apple slices with a little lemon juice to prevent browning (optional).
  • Just before serving, transfer the chilled dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.
  • Serve immediately with apple slices or other desired dippers.

Notes

Soften cream cheese completely to avoid lumps. Don't overmix the dip to prevent it from becoming too thin. Toss apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning. Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Get creative with toppings such as chopped nuts, chocolate chips, toffee bits, or sea salt. For a salted caramel version, use salted caramel sauce or sprinkle sea salt on top. Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or apple pie spice for a warm, cozy flavor.
