Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Small bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large cast-iron skillet (or any large skillet)
  • Spatula
  • Paper towels
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Flank Steak, Sirloin, or Ribeye, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1.5 lbs Yukon Gold or Red Potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Rosemary, chopped optional
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce low sodium preferred
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds for garnish, optional
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onions for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels.
  • In a large bowl, toss the steak cubes and potato cubes with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and rosemary (if using). Make sure everything is evenly coated.
  • Heat a large cast-iron skillet (or any large skillet) over medium-high heat. Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the steak and potatoes.
  • Add the steak and potatoes to the skillet in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the skillet, as this will steam the ingredients instead of searing them. You may need to work in batches.
  • Sear the steak and potatoes for about 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and the potatoes are starting to soften.
  • While the steak and potatoes are searing, prepare the honey garlic sauce.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth.
  • Once the steak and potatoes are browned, pour the honey garlic sauce over them.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened and the steak and potatoes are coated in a glossy glaze.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions (if using).
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Honey Garlic Steak And Potato Skillet!

Notes

Don't overcrowd the skillet; work in batches if necessary. Use high heat for a good sear. Adjust cooking time based on steak and potato cube size. For extra flavor, let the steak rest before cutting. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Add veggies like bell peppers or broccoli for variation. Make it spicy with cayenne pepper or hot sauce. A squeeze of lemon juice adds a bright, zesty flavor. Stir in sour cream or Greek yogurt for a creamy twist.
