Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 1 pound skinless, boneless salmon fillet, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ΒΌ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • 2 green onions, chopped optional
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  • Cut the salmon fillet into 1-inch cubes and pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add cooking oil.
  • Add the salmon cubes to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly caramelized. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the cooked salmon and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened and evenly coated the salmon bites.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions (if using).
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality, wild-caught salmon. Be careful not to overcook the salmon, or it will become dry and rubbery. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preference. Maple syrup, coconut aminos, grated ginger, brown sugar, or lemon juice can be used as substitutes for honey, soy sauce, garlic, and rice vinegar, respectively. To elevate the dish, consider browning the butter before adding the honey and garlic, adding citrus zest, drizzling with spicy mayo, or sprinkling with everything bagel seasoning. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
