Equipment

  • Vegetable peeler
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Large bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat (optional)
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg optional
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into roughly 1-inch cubes.
  • In a large bowl, toss the cubed sweet potatoes with olive oil, honey, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg (if using), and cayenne pepper (if using), ensuring every piece is well coated.
  • Spread the sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet, using parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easier cleanup if desired.
  • Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and slightly caramelized, flipping halfway through to ensure even browning.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

For best results, ensure the sweet potatoes are spread in a single layer to avoid steaming. Flipping halfway ensures even caramelization. Adjust the honey to taste or substitute with maple syrup. Add a pinch of chili powder or smoked paprika for extra spice. Sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts for added crunch and flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
