  • Parchment paper
  • Medium bowl
  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Oven
  • Toothpick

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or dark

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan by greasing it well and lining it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and pumpkin puree.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips (if using).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them. Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. To freeze, wrap individually in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 2 months. Try adding a cream cheese swirl for a tangy twist or chopped nuts for added texture.
