Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Meat thermometer
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Four bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cups shredded lettuce iceberg, romaine, or your favorite mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chopped tomato
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup dill pickle chips, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons burger sauce or your favorite
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Try not to overmix.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Carefully place the patties in the skillet. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Use a meat thermometer to ensure accuracy.
  • If you want to add cheese directly to the burger, place slices on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  • Divide the shredded lettuce evenly among four bowls.
  • Top the lettuce with the cooked burger patties.
  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped tomato, red onion, and pickle chips.
  • Drizzle generously with the burger sauce.
  • Garnish with any optional toppings such as crumbled bacon or avocado slices. Serve immediately and enjoy!
  • To make the burger sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Notes

Customize your Burger Bowl with your favorite toppings, such as bacon, avocado, fried egg, or sauteed mushrooms. For a low-carb version, use sugar-free ketchup and mayonnaise and limit high-carb toppings like tomatoes and red onion. Burger sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
