Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing spoon or hands
  • Grill or skillet or baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (if baking)
  • Spatula
  • Thermometer (optional)
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef 80/20
  • 4 oz Feta Cheese, crumbled
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup Chopped Fresh Parsley
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • ½ tsp Salt or to taste
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper or to taste
  • Optional Toppings: Avocado slices
  • Optional Toppings: Tomato slices
  • Optional Toppings: Red onion slices
  • Optional Toppings: Lettuce leaves
  • Optional Toppings: Keto-friendly condiments mayo, mustard
  • Optional Toppings: Pickles

Instructions

  • Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled feta cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Gently mix everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
  • Form the Keto Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Gently form each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb. This helps prevent the burgers from puffing up during cooking.
  • Cook the Burgers: Choose your preferred cooking method: Grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Cook the Burgers: Pan-Frying: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil or avocado oil. Cook the burgers for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through.
  • Cook the Burgers: Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the burgers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
  • Rest and Serve: Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicier burger.
  • Assemble Your Keto Feta Burgers: Serve the burgers on lettuce wraps, or with your favorite Keto-friendly toppings like avocado slices, tomato slices, red onion slices, and sugar-free condiments.

Notes

Don't overmix the ground beef, use 80/20 ground beef for optimal moisture, make a thumbprint indentation in the patties, avoid pressing down during cooking, and let the burgers rest before serving. The burger mixture can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Cooked burgers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 2-3 months. For variations, add red pepper flakes for spice, sun-dried tomatoes or lemon juice for a Mediterranean twist, or experiment with different cheeses like goat cheese or parmesan.
