Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie scoop
  • Wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter, white sugar, and brown sugar for 2–3 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Mix until the batter is glossy.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips using a spatula.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared baking sheets. Leave space between cookies.
  • Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Let cookies rest for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Don’t overbake — they should look slightly underdone when you take them out. That’s the secret to the gooey centers!
